Utility Assistance Week May 17-May 21

Due to the fact that the State’s moratorium on utility shut-offs will expire on June 30th, the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities(NJBPU)  is launching a “Utility Assistance Week” -May 17th -May 21, 2021. This informational outreach effort is aimed to inform residents of various utility assistance programs.  For residents who may need assistance paying bills, it is advised that they contact one of the programs before the moratorium ends

Utility Assistance Programs:  

·       Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

·       Universal Service Fund (USF)

·       Payment Assistance for Gas and Electric (PAGE)

·       Emergency Rental Assistance, which covers utilities included in rental costs

·       Deferred Payment Agreements through the utilities

·       The Utility Customer’s Bill of Rights

·       2-1-1 as a 24/7 referral source for utility assistance as well as other helpful programs
