Downtown Blackwood Section of Gloucester Township Set for Major Enhancements as
Revitalization Efforts Continue

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ – Downtown Blackwood is entering an exciting new phase as revitalization efforts continue to transform the area into a vibrant arts and cultural district.

The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) will soon begin the Black Horse Pike Resurfacing Project, which will include milling and paving the corridor from Route 42 in Washington Township to County Route 544 in Runnemede. The project also features the installation of decorative lighting, upgraded traffic signals, and modernized guiderail systems.

Construction is anticipated to begin in early 2026 and will coincide with Gloucester Township’s Streetscaping Project in the downtown area. These coordinated improvements will not only enhance public safety and accessibility but also play a key role in driving economic development.

By investing in infrastructure and beautification, Gloucester Township and NJDOT are laying the groundwork for long-term business growth, increased foot traffic, and greater community engagement. Projects like these stimulate local commerce, attract private investment, and strengthen the regional economy—creating opportunities that benefit both residents and businesses alike.

“Downtown Blackwood’s transformation reflects our ongoing commitment to economic revitalization and community development,” said Mayor David R. Mayer. “Through strategic partnerships and investment in public infrastructure, we are building a more vibrant and sustainable future for Gloucester Township.”
