Youth Program Registration Information

May 8 Summer Sports Camps & Programs Registration

May 30 Preschool Camp, Police Camp & Nature Camp Registration

June 7 Non-Resident Registration

Registration is held at the Recreation Center beginning at 8am. You may register beginning on the above dates and can continue registering until a program fills. Space is limited for all programs and trips. In-person registration is required for all activities. Make checks payable to “Twp. of Gloucester” except where otherwise noted; two separate checks may be necessary.

Bring a valid drivers license and second proof of residency to registration to receive resident rate. Preschool registration also requires a photocopy of the child’s birth certificate and medical record. Refunds will be given if the Recreation Department cancels a trip or program due to low enrollment. We reserve the right to cancel a trip or program if enough people have not registered in advance. Program and camp refunds will be given minus a $10.00 processing fee. This refund must be requested before 20% of the scheduled classes are completed. Sports Camp refunds will be issued only if the request is made at least 1 week prior to the start. Please bring your receipt to the office for processing. All refunds take 30-45 days to process. Returned checks are subject to a $25.00 fee

The grade specified (K-8) for all summer camps is current grade for the 2016/2017 school year. We will verify age using school records or may request proof of age.

The focus of this camp is to teach basketball skills. Have fun during this camp while learning the fundamentals of the sport through skill building. Please bring a drink and a snack daily and wear sneakers. Instructor Charles Senatore is back for his 19th year! Held at the Rec Center.

Your child will explore yoga and meditation in a fun way through songs, games, crafts, and stories. They will create a craft to take home each day keeping with the theme for the week. This is a non competitive and fun environment for you child to BE Themselves! Please provide a healthy snack for your child daily.
Week 1 Theme: Be Kind to Yourself
Crafts (Pillow, Bracelet, Painting Meditation Stones)
Week 2 Theme: Discover You
Crafts (Meditation boxes, Mandala knots, Peace wind chimes)

Taught by a state certified, highly qualified early childhood teacher who is currently working in the NJ public school system, this class is designed for children currently in kindergarten and going into first grade.  It is also a great class for children who have a good grasp of letters/numbers and who are entering kindergarten.  In this class, children will be engaged in fun, hands-on games and activities that reinforce the following important readiness skills needed for success in kindergarten and first grade: Math Standards: Counting skills, Number Sense, Counting/Counting on, What comes next,   Simple Addition, Simple Subtraction, Shapes and their Attributes; Language and Literacy: Phonological Awareness, Decoding, Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, Print Concepts, and Imagination and Storytelling.

July 10 – 13 | 6:30 – 8:30pm | Held at Rec Center

Join a week long sewing class available to ages 10-15. Learn the basics of how to sew on a sewing machine with fun project. Make a pillowcase, zipper pouch, infinity scarf, and tote bag. All class materials are included. Please bring your own sewing machine from home.

July 10 – 14 |5:00 – 7:30pm | Held at Highland HS Track

Open to children current grades 3 through HS
Calling all track athletes and beginners that will experience intensive introduction to skill and technique driven instruction on all events in Track & Field. All instruction is done by qualified instructors in their event area. Our instructors have over 50 years’ experience, numerous HS section and state titles, all American status and NCAA & USA Olympic Trials qualifications. Chose sprints, jumps, distance, or throwing events in the beginner or advanced sections each day. Advanced athletes will remain in their technique group and beginners get a taste of all events. Includes camp T-shirt, unlimited water, & Powerade. This is the perfect summer camp for anyone interested in track and field or preparing for AAU or USATF Nationals!

Let’s start with the Basics! We will cover how to operate your sewing machine, pinning, cutting, and sewing terms. You will accomplish small projects that reinforce skills you are learning. All class materials included. Open to ages 10 and up. Please bring your machine.

July 17 – 21 | Monday – Friday | Held at Rec Center
$75 to Soccer Shots/$10 to Glo Twp.
Soccer shots is a national leader in youth soccer development for young children. Our program has been created under the guidance of childhood educational specialists, professional soccer players and experienced coaches. To approach every session with two objectives: fun for every child and learning new soccer skills and concepts. These two objectives work together, and our mission is not fulfilled if both objectives are not met. We make the experience positive for every child enrolled. Small accomplishments for some can be huge. We take a “you can do it!” approach to everything we teach. Soccer shots aims to leave a lasting, positive impact on every child who plays.

Challenge Island Kids HEART Emojis and we HEART Challenge Island Kids so we created an all new camp that turns those cute little yellow faces into action packed STEAM adventures! From Silly Emoji Day to Sunglasses Cool Emoji Day, our Challenge Island tribes will be crying tears of joy as they ride their unicorns into a texting-icon-inspired world they will never forget. This awesome camp promises to be as popular as Emojis themselves, so reserve your spot today! Each day we will make a small snack; however, parents are encouraged to pack a snack as well! Open to children grades K-6th.

August 14-17 | 10:00am – 11:30am | Held at GT Pool
Cost: $60 to Gloucester Twp. or $70 to Nonresidents
This camp is for children ages 8 – 14 who are intermediate swimmers and have had experience with swimming and want to improve his/her techniques through learning competitive swim skills. Friday will be used as a raindate.

Join our week long soccer camp for beginners through elite! Players will be challenged by Academy coaches from the UK and America. Get individualized attention from professional players and coaches. Improve your game and have a blast doing it! Cost includes camp T-shirt. Fridays will be used a raindate.

Fridays: June 16; Last Class Aug. 18 | 10 weeks

Come jump, bounce, dance and play to increase your endurance! Open to children ages 6 and up. Parents can sign up too! Enjoy family fun while gaining strength, balance and coordination utilizing Kangoo Jump Boots. This fun fitness format is sweeping the nation and is right here in South Jersey. Boots provided at class. Please arrive 15 minutes early for class to get booted up. Class size limited due to boot availability. *Can’t make it to all the classes? Sign up for only what you can make, cost is $7 per class plus $10 one time fee to GT.

Fridays: June 23; Last Class July 28 | 6 weeks
4:45 – 5:45pm | Held at Still Point Yoga Center
Cost: $45 to Still Point Yoga Center/$10 to Glo. Twp.
This yoga class is designed for kids to learn yoga in a playful way that fosters creativity and builds confidence, focus, and cooperation. Children will learn yoga poses, sing songs, listen to stories, and relax together, mastering the art of being a kid, in this uplifting, non competitive and fun environment. Studio supplies mats. Open to children ages 4-12 years.

Tuesdays: July 11; Last class August 29 | 8 Weeks

$90 to Look Who’s Dancing/$10 to Glo. Twp
Look Who’s Dancing is a unique company founded by two nurses. Our mission is to preserve and improve the health and well being of underserved populations through dance and exercise, in an atmosphere where fitness is fun and socially engaging. Our program can be modified to meet the needs of any population and is designed with the flexibility to adapt to each client’s strengths. We like to focus on what can be achieved rather than limitations. This program simply cannot be done “wrong”, if a client is engaged, they are doing it “right”. Class is open to all ages and abilities.

Saturdays: May 20; Last class June 24 | 5 Weeks

$60 to Ron Miller/$10 to Glo. Twp
This format of kid-sized tennis is the 10-and-under Tennis standard for providing quick success and lots of fun on the court. Through enjoyable activities and skill-based play, participants get an introduction to strokes, terms, movement and scoring. Instructional games, scaled-down courts and nets, and youth racquets and balls are all designed for the size of a young child. Parents are encouraged to participate in family-friendly weekly activities. All equipment is provided. Bring your own water bottle. Open to ages 5-10. Class size limited to 24. SPECIAL 2nd STUDENT DISCOUNT: 2 students for $105 plus Township fee.

Come join us for the 6th Annual QuickStart Tennis Family Fun Day. Held on the courts in beautiful Gloucester Twp. Community Park, this FREE event showcases the QuickStart Tennis programs offered by Gloucester Twp. Recreation and Gotta Play Tennis Kids. Neither tennis experience nor equipment is necessary.
